Please help! I have a 90 gallon tank that I am moving tomorrow (January 2) and need some help setting it up properly. I have had some major issues in the past with my tank (stuff dying, water issues, etc) and need a mentor to help me. If anyone is willing to help, I live in Houston TX, and I will GIVE someone the puffer I have (I think he's a manilla puffer) just for giving me tips and/or coming to my house and give me tips. I have had this tank for over a year, and everything is always messed up! PLEASE HELP!

need more info about your tank to help.
now about your move. put your water in buckets or any other clean container you can transport it with.
(about 20 gallons) do not remove the sand, this way you will not disturb the micro animals living in it. you should keep your rocks moist during the move, wrap it in news paper or place in buckets.
once you ariive and set things up, place a lid into the tank to pour the water on top of, personally i use a power head(maxijet) with a tube attached to do this. add your fresh mixed water next. give it a few days, test and then add your livestock.

Wow, that is such a heartache. where in Houston are you located?
Alot of our members are out of town or vacation.
Send me a PM when we can talk. I'm not an expert but I can steer you in the right direction.
How long have you had your tank?
I'll mention to my son too. He is 19 and has had his own tank for 3 years and worked SWF tank maintenance for 2 summers with a pro that mentored him.
Just need more details.
Plus, tank moving is a big enough issue without the ones you already had.
If possible maybe you can get someone to babysit your stuff and you might want to start over in the new location.
Just depends on alot of conditions.
Hope this helps,
Keep us posted.

I am going to start filling my tank tomorrow, and going to put my sand and rock in the next day. I was thinking about putting the fish in a couple days after that...

You have a PM.
I'm concerned if we don't get more details about your tank-not very many folks will get involved.
Really, I believe it would be best to follow flexrac info about not removing your sand.
If you replace the sand with new sand your tank will go through a brand new cycle and you cannot add your fish back in a couple of days.
Rinse the sand you already have with clean salt water.
Place it in the tank 1st before you start filling.
Filling after the water is in there will create a sandstorm. If it is the old sand it will spread nitrifing bacteria though out the water.
Making problems very hard to get in control.
Remember: There is never time to do it right but there is always time to do it over.
Good luck, I will be be out until tonight-LMK if you have any more specific concerns.

if you have a risk of possible re-cycling your tank with new sand i would add one of those bacteria supplements...for example biospira just as a safe bet. For a bottle is about 10-15 bucks
