I have been told the future is LEDs, that being said, I could not wait to sample this product on my various tanks. There are two models of strips, the stunner which is more of a accent/moonlight, and only 6 watts. As well as the Panorama that is 12watts and can according the the mfg be used stand alone, in one of their fixtures that holds 6 12w strips, or as a supplement to other lighting. They come in 8000k white/453nm blue combo, or all blue for supplemental shimmer lighting. The stunners come in I believe 6 colors, stay tuned for a review on those next week when I can get my hands on some. This review deals with the single strip 12w Panorama in 8000k white/453nm blue.

Here are some pics:

Acrylic piece with strips mounted in canopy of a 125g excuse the cloudiness, this was after the water change and cleaning :D:

From across the room, just the LEDs on the 125:

Through the acrylic eurobrace on a 29: deep 275g tank:

Please note the room was very dark, and there were no other lights on.

All in all I will have to say they are pretty cool pieces of lighting. On large, deep tanks though I feel they would be best suited for a swim tank, or some low light loving corals. The look on the 29" deep FOWLR was very unique and made for a very nice display. As supplement to say T5s, they are pretty sweet, as that is what they are on with on the 125 above. The 125 has an Aquatic Life 8x39w T5 fixture with moonlights and built in controller (Stay tuned for a review of this as well) and I think needs two more panoramas to get the full shimmer that I am looking for. They do add shimmer, and the more units you add the more shimmer you get. On a nano or smaller shallow tank, I think they will work just fine and you can tweak the colors by adding different colored stunner strips to the fixture or stand alone Panoramas. More pics to come next week when I play around with the strips above some corals, to see what kind of color we get as well as some stunners to see how much you can tweak the colors.

Let me know if you have any questions, and stay tuned for some more reviews.

Anyways here are some more pics, the last modules went on a clients tank, so I decided to get some for myself and see what they can do.

I made a light fixture out of some scrap acrylic and some bolts I had lying around. I also threw in a 2x24w T5 retro setup with actinics from Current USA (also lying around) and I am pretty happy with the results, check it out:

All in all I think I will want two more modules in the middle of the T-5s, to maximize coverage and shimmer. I plan on using and identical setup to this and this one to light my new project tank which is in the works to replace my current reef. I am downsizing to just one display inside... for now :D

All in all I like the effects, I would post some pics of the tank lit up, but honestly it doesnt show up on camera too well, the real difference is in what your eyes can see. Also, admitedly I am a little ashamed of the ChiaPet like qualities of my live rock right now:( ( I know, but whatever, if you come by I will gladly show you lol) This is basically my clown's tank, along with some LPS, and I dont fret over a little green here and there or in this case ALOT of green LOL. In total over the new tank I am planning on having 6-8 of these modules, and either 4, 6, or 8x24w T5 depending on how many I can fit in the canopy.I also plan to add some Stunner strips to supplement the color a little bit.

BTW this setup is replacing a Hamilton Reefstar 250W DE with a very crusty glass shield and an 18-24 month old bulb, so I figured the par difference will be acceptable...

What costs are you looking at? Comparable or more for initial investment? They do look kinda cool.

Well, the Panorama modules retail for $100 each, and the T5 retro is $100 or less. I had the acrylic and bolts lying around. If I was going to re-sell or produce to sell (which I might at some point) I would probably start at about $400 for the 24" fixture with 2 LED modules, add $100 for each extra module you want...
