Short answer: I don't know...

Long answer: The sales are set by the Manufacturer. We get notice about a week in advance of the upcoming sales, but we're obligated by MAP to only release that info on the date specified in the sale. That said, look for sales to pop up under these circumstances:
1. in advance of industry shows
2. around major holidays
3. in response to a competitor releasing a new product
4. at the very end and very beginning of each year - when product lines change over.

That's correct - the best way to ensure that an item you're after will go on sale is to convince one of your close friends to buy said item. Within a few days, the item will be marked down at least 20%, allowing you to snag a great deal as well as giving you gloating rights about your wisdom and foresight...

You can only do this once or twice per friend, though, or you probably won't have any left after a while... No one likes a smart @$$...
