If I can't afford an RO/DI unit, is it worth the trouble to go get some or are the chlorine/chloramine drops sufficient for the water?

Chlorine/chloramine is the least thing I'm concerned with in tapwater. It'll really depend on your source water...many have run tanks successfully with tapwater, just be ready for algae/diatom/cyano problems. The smaller the tank, the easier it is just to buy RO/DI water. IMO, in the long run, it is worth the trouble to use RO/DI water however obtained.

Hmmm ok. Just no place to store it. Might just save up for one.

32g brute trashcan or get the 7 gallon blue containers from walmart. Dont skimp on an RODI. Might be even more important than a skimmer, imho, especially with the water source in this neck of the woods, you really dont want to know whats all in our tapwater.

Ok. But I gotta get a RO/DI unit. Probably won't have my tank going until I have the money for one anyways.

If your tank is the 36 in your sig then just buy a few of the 5 gallon water containers sold at the fish stores. Fill at the LFS and you're good to go
