This guy came on the live rock when I started my tank over a year ago. He has grown from 1/4" to over an inch. He hasn't seemed to harm anything as of yet. Looking for an id if somebody cares to hazard a guess.
And they're carnivorous. Mine has gone through tons of ceriths and nerites. I'm just happy that I have dibs turbos now that can replenish themselves! It's been an expensive snail to keep longterm
Thanks for the responses, thats exactly what it is. I haven't seen him eating anything but I have seen my snail population reduced so that may explain it. Since others are also keeping this snail, it sounds like it is probably reef safe.
Not reef safe really. It will eat any other snails and clams as well. I had a huge jewel box clam, it was like 3 times the size of the snail so I thought it was safe - it wasn't. Spike ate it (yes, I named my snail). Despite it chowing down over $100 of other CUC snails through the years, I still like it for some reason....yay for dibs turbos now!
