There is still the remains of a nice size gulf shrimp in the tank. Looks more now like a cotton ball shaped like a shrimp. My Ammonia and Nitrites are zero. I don't want to place livestock in the tank until I return so should I put another shrimp in the tank to make sure the bacteria do not die off before I return. I'll be gone about 9 days. Thoughts?

Thanks!

My husband had a yellow tail damsel in his tank that lived on very minimal feedings if any for 3 years, he traveled a lot back then for months at a time. Named him lucky.

For 9 days I would just leave the same shrimp. Should be fine, its still putting out ammonia and you don't want to put your first fish in and immediately leave them.

I would be worried sick about them if I did that. I am such a tree hugger! :)

Oh I'm not saying it's right, that was before we met and got married. After that I took over and now have 3 tanks lol. Lucky was around for a while after that, but once I started adding more fish he found out real quick that he had lil man syndrome. picking on everyone in the tank got him killed. I tried to save him but he was too quick for me to ever catch.
