Calling all chemistry buffs-
I have noticed the smell of rotten eggs coming from ONE of my saltwater reservoirs. This is the tank where I mix my 1.020 water and store it. I recently changed salt and thought that this was a by-product of that change (since I only noticed it shortly after) but know that this is not normal and might be a problem for the tanks where I use this water. After a little research and skimming an article on Reef Central, I found this bit of information:
"Raw artificial seawater made with pure fresh water does not have this concern, as there are no organics in it to decay. It can be stored unstirred for as long as desired".
Makes me question even more what the cause of the problem is. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks!
