Would a light fixture that has 2x250 MH and some 65w PC actinics be too much for a 60g tank that is 48 long, 12 wide and I forget how tall. I have 4xT5 right now and looking to upgrade. Wanting to grow SPS, LSP and softies.

Its probably about 24" deep and no that would not be too much light at all, just right actually.

If I upgraded the 4 lights in the T5, would it be sufficient to grow SPS? The ones that came with it are evidently kind of wimpy.

In what way are you talking about upgrading your existing T5's? I initially thought you were upgrading to 2 halides?

Sorry for the confusion. I'm debating of whether I should upgrade my T5 bulbs or just spend the money to get the MH's. I want to grow a wide mix of corals, and the T5's I have now seem to be making the SPS lose color and nothing is really growing very well. I am just worried my tank will get too hot with the MH and that it could have (evidently not) be too much light. I guess I have changed my question to is it worth it to ugrade? Lol
