I want to be the first on the board to praise the Tunze Powerstreams. Last week I installed two Tunze 6000s with single controllers for each and the reaction in the tank is absolutely amazing.

I think that many of you saw the results at the Frag Swap last weekend, but for those of you who didn't these things are amazing.

Each one puts out ~1500 gph max and are pulsed so that they work at max power for a shor time and then cycle back to a dialed in percentage power for a like amount of time and then ramp back up. The units can be dialed in for anywhere between 30% power to 100% power and the cycle interval can be dialed in too.

Having two of these has allowed me to simulate a good tidal flow along my reef. Two are not necessary, but I really like the effect that my two are having.

I know that they are expensive, but if you really want your biggie sized tank to have great water motion, these are definitely the way to go.

I would like to thank John at Global Fish and Pets for ordering them for me. He is our local dealer here in town and he was extremely accomodating with my order.

You should note that these are hand made pumps and therefore there is a back order on them. It can take anywhere between 4 and 6 weeks for you to receive them after ordering. I did not know this when I first ordered, however the wait was worth it. And I am glad to say that I had them when I needed them. I wanted them in for the Frag Swap and I had them in a couple of days before.

Thanks again to John, and I am sorry for all of the phone calls that I made harrassing you on the status of them :D.

Grand total, after tax, I paid $650. I think that it was money well spent. My corals are happy and the tidal action that I get is incredible. Combine taht with the other current making devices that I already have and I have amazing water motion.

I didn't say that RO units were a luxury. I did say that I did want one (eventually) but I want to get the tank working as good as possible and quit killing my SPS.

The RO unit is coming in a few months. It will be a much bigger chore to install than the Tunzes.

I know that the Tunzes were expensive, and I had to wait until my Income Tax return before I could afford them, but I am very glad that I installed them. The corals are looking better, and the fish seem to enjoy the increased current.

Nope....I got the Tunze 6000's with the single controllers.

The Tunze 6060s and 6080s cannot use the controllers to control pulsing and tidal motion.
I went with two single controllers instead of the multicontroller so that I could have both pumps operated completely independently and therefore have different pulse periods. This provides better random motion from the pumps. Factor in the cycle times of my SeaSwirls, and I have very good chaotic motion in the tank.
