I just got back from a weekend trip and my main display tank's pH is measuring high. Should I take any action? I replaced and calibrated the pH probe so I am confident the reading is correct. The tank is 280 gallons and has been up an running for ~5 years. I have never seen this before.

Looks good to me. Nobody was there exhaling all that c02. Mine hits 8.55 when I’m gone 2-3 days.

That’s exactly why. In my small apartment I have to run Kalk to keep my pH in the desired range. Just my wife and I drive down the pH a lot. I’m Dosing 300 mL’s of saturated Kalk on top of my 2-part dosing. Keeps my pH 8.2-8.4.

Yes this. Curious myself.

I’m surprised that you guys didn’t know that CO2 runs high indoors. We exhale CO2 in our houses all day long. Depending on the size of your house, room, and family will depend on how high the level will be. pH in a home reef tank is directly impacted by this elevated CO2.

There are devices that measure CO2 in a home, but these are not needed because CO2 in a home is not high enough to cause CO2 retention. However, it will definitely drive your pH down which is why a lot of reefers (including myself) run our skimmer input on outside air. I’ve seen a few guys measure their houses over the years and there’s a significant difference compared to outside air. One that comes to mind was a fireman who had access to a monitor they had at work.

One guy went out of town and caught his son having a party by monitoring his pH on the Apex.

It’s easy to run at 8.4 pH. Just run a hose from your skimmer to outside and dose Kalk. I’m running 8.4 all day long. I dose 300mL saturated Kalk daily on top of my ESV B-Ionic.

Yes, I have a CO2 monitor connected to my Apex controller. I know that CO2 levels get elevated indoors but I have never had my pH get this high before and I go on vacations all the time.

Here is a picture of my CO2 monitor.

It connects to the ASM.

You can buy the ASM directly from Neptune for $99. Just open a ticket with them. I have purchased three of them.

I wish I could run a hose to the outside. I would have to drill through brick siding which I know is doable but my wife would have a fit.

Buy more house plants to lower your co2 in your house, that's what my Nana always told me :)
