    3 gal stand and hood

    My new 3 gal was getting a bit hot with the light so close to the water so I decided to make a hood and matching stand. Thanks to Nick for the how-to Sketchup demonstration! I played around with the design this morning and got to work. Here are a couple of pics of the work so far.

    crab id

    This crab came as a hitchhiker on some live rock. It is in the curing tank which is chock full so it is hard to get a good pic. I'll try to coax him out of his hidie-hole with some food to get a better pic. Its about the size of a half dollar. Any idea what it is? *edit* My patient wife got...

    refractometers

    I'm going to get a refractometer. The only prob is that I'm colorblind. Do you have to be able to see color to use one? I'm getting one no matter what for accuracy's sake, but it may just be one more time I ask my wife- "Hey what color is this?" (She's use to it on test day anyway!)

    Macro ID help

    This algae came on a live rock. A month ago it was a barely perceptible blob but has begun growing nicely. It is about an inch long now. My lemon peel hasn’t eaten any of it yet. What is it? Could it be halimeda?
