    Interview with Humblefish & PauB

@Paul B There are no hogs in Houston, so we don’t know what a “hogwash“ is! Consider gracing us with wise words or humorous wit. Shalom, Patrick

Who is favorite member of your CUC?

While not grouped with CUC, I consider ornamental sponges as consumers of microbes, including ich parasite larvae and an integral part of mixed garden biodiversity. Depending on what we are cleaning up, determines the clean up crew. So, who cleans up DOC (dissolved organic carbon)? Cryptic...

    Interview with Humblefish & PauB

No doubt that healthy mature reef tanks excercise ich management. In my case, I have had stress events with no visible ich symptons manifested. It occurs to me that natural immunity to specific pathogens requires being exposed to those pathogens. From my point of view, how is a hobbiest...

    Interview with Humblefish & PauB

After this conversation with you, I pursued the topic with my friend Lasse who ran the Swedish National Aquarium in Stolkholm. That´s my experiences too, It seem - when you read all disease threads here at R2R that newly started and aquarium younger than 1 year are overrepresented - especially...

Hydrogen Peroxide To Treat Fish Parasites

Awesome. Thank you. I am going to check out the peroxide test strips on Amazon. I use a 10% solution of 3% peroxide as a 10 minute dip on corals with pest.

    Interview with Humblefish & PauB

The previous article dealt with fish internal parasite invasion, this article deals with external parasite invasion. Fish body slime is primary protection against pathogen invasion and using gene expression, fish adjust chemistry of slime coat...

    Interview with Humblefish & PauB

@Humblefish Because both Paul & I each feel that stress is a major contributor of fish mortality, I was intrigued with this link that we found from National Library of Medicine: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ Unfortunately, I was only allowed guest academic access once, so here is a...

    Blue light

Kudos to inverts more active at night under blue light. At one time, I ran red led’s for observing night time behavior.

75G Reverse Flow UG Filter on Top and 30G Cryptic Refugium with Mud Filter on Bottom

I have a tank full of Red Grapes, Bortacladia, and Pom Pom Algae, Gracilaria Hayi, which I highly recommend. I disagree with AlgaeBarn‘s assessment of herbivore food. BlueTang & Lawnmower Blennie seldom graze. https://www.marineplantbook.com/marinebookgrachayi.htm A beautiful species of...

75G Reverse Flow UG Filter on Top and 30G Cryptic Refugium with Mud Filter on Bottom

@BigRick The Bue Tang in this tank is 5 years old. He was tiny when I got him from Divers Den. Gracilaria Hayi is the only seaweed that is sustainable in this tank.

Taming Caulerpa Prolifera in a Caribbean Mixed Garden Lagoon

For feeding tangs, Caulerpa Paspoides is a good choice: Hippo & lawnmower devour it. In bottom 55G tank, lights are more intense and without a fish bioload, I am dosing ammonia to keep up with nitrogen demand. Because I did not prune regularly, a very large patch of fast growing Caulerpa...
