Hi all,

I know I don't post in this forum very much..sometimes I think I'm crazy to think I even have time to own a reef tank. But I wanted to share a few picks of my 135, as well as some pics of a few of my favorite pieces.

Please excuse the cords, etc in the background, I've got some blue posterboard to attach, just haven't done it yet. She looks a little bare but patience is the key right? I'm also waiting for unusual pieces to fill in the spaces.

I wish! I can't kick the diatoms. I messed with the flow and it helped some. The queen conchs and nassarius try to help. I'm trying to find a few fighting conchs & bumble bee snails. Don't want sand sifting stars to as they will wipe out the pods. Considered a cuke...if I can find one small enough. Although my husband and his friends will definitely give me a hard time about having a turd in the tank :)

I don't overfeed, lighting is 10 hours, no skimmer yet....but I do use a filter sock. No additives except for Calcium.

No, I have an RO/DI unit. I've tested both the RO water and tank water for phosphates and it comes up 0. I do need to get a TDMS meter as the unit was used.

Get a tigertail cuke from Planet Fish, they don't look like turds and do a really good job on the sand.

Seen a lot of conchs at City Pets last weekend.

Really like your Alien Eye Chalice, nice, now I know who to talk to when it grows out and needs a an eye removed. ;)

Yep, they're in business, just got back from a trip there at lunch as a matter of fact. They are no longer on Stella Link. They're on Weslayan, right off of Holcombe, across the street from the Whole Foods.

Thanks...I'll check out the tigertail. I really love the chalice. When I bought it I was kicking myself for spending so much money ($50 for a quarter sized frag) but couldn't pass it up. I've had it for 4 months and it's doubled in size. Once it grows out really well I'd like to frag it to share with other reefers (and recoup some of the initial cost or trade for something as unusual) but would want someone with more expertise than myself there when I did it :)

Allyson, your tank looks great. I like the tiger tail also. Take your time filling up your tank that way you can put in exactly what you want and not end up having to sell things b/c you wanted someting else more but couldn't get it at the time.

I think it's the silicates that cause diatoms not phospates( please correct me if i'm wrong). phospates will cause the cyno and green algaes.
