Looking good if you need someone to give you a quote on the canopy and stand skin let me know. I have plenty of time at the moment and have access to my cabinet makers friends shop

Wow looking great man. I saw that link a few months back on RC and was thinking of making a floating canopy just like that. Dang it! LOL

Sweet looking build!!

It's coming along nicely, Kel! ;)

Thanks Yall. Appreciate the compliments.

Yea I thought it was a nice touch to have the underside finished like that instead of looking into a mess of wires and lights. I especially like the idea for this build because the tank and stand sit so high. You will definitely be seeing more of the underside of the canopy. Don't let me stop you though. That is more of a floating platform which is one I wanted initially with the low profile of the LEDs. When I ended up adding in LumenMax Elite fixtures, even though they are low profile themselves, I just decided to finish it off all the way to the ceiling for a cleaner look. No wires or fixtures will be seen.

Wow. Love the light setup.

Would like to check out one day.

Not a problem. If you are ever in my neck of the woods, I would love another eye on it. Maybe come up with some new ideas, etc.

That's it....I quit.

Now that is funny right there.

Oh wow. Thanks so much for the offer. 1 day late though. Got my deposit in with Justin Henry. We spend a good deal of time together brainstorming and measuring it all out. Looking forward to finishing this bad boy up. Seriously though, thanks for the offer and consideration. Hard to find anyone around here not charging an arm and a Gem Tang. (bad joke) sorry.

Yeah Justin does good work, just he is pretty pricey. Oh well, you will be happy with his work though. Cant wait to see everything done. Which MH bulbs are you gonna use.

I sure hope so. I am going by his shop after I come by this Friday actually to check on the progress (maybe take some pics) and pic out the appropriate stain I want. I hope things are prgressing nicely.

I am actually running AI LEDs and 2 x 250 watt Radium metal halide bulbs. really love those bulbs so far. Mixed LEDs and Halides gives met the ability to place corals under the lighting where they thrive most and look the best.

Hi I just spend a fortune (my savings lol) on cleaning up my 125 gal leaking tank! I bought a used 210 and paid for setup/moving/cleanup/ect $2500.00. In other words i am a bit broke! I was looking into lighting and was heading towards the "chinese LED". I need 4 sets for the 210 tank 7x2x2. Any ideas on reef breeders (evergrow) Led. I have a 1400 budget to light the reef and Ref. I am not a fan of bulb changes since i always forget or broke...lol.... I am not handy so the DIY kit is out unless i can find some one to do it who would work within the 1400 budget lights and labor....But i don't think i have a chance since it not much$$$$$ to play with.
Just moved from NY and the 125 was bought brand new at a local store only 8 mths ago and sprung a leek i am a bit toff but life goes on.... I did save the fishes killed the corals since my old lights broke and it took a while to repurchase and clean up garbage buckets pump no light + dead corals sad!!!
Please any advise!

@ krjackso Great set up! Love the tank bit green with envy......lol

Debbie- you should cut and past that into a new thread/post- you will get plenty of helpful advice. Several LED experts on the forum.
Kelly- My first thought on seeing this pop up again is that you got the canopy finally done. Are you still being #$%*** around? Sucks that every step of this has been so painful. Curious about updates!

so FINALLY time for an UPDATE!!!

so excited to be posting these words. Well after another 7 months of ANOTHER contractor wasting my time (I must just have the worst luck, who knows), I finally have something to report. My stand skin is finally underway! May not seem like much, but to me and especially the lady friend, it finally is marking a bit of progress to finishing this build up. My tank has been sitting on a steel frame for quite a while unskinned. Much to the dismay of my girlfriend. Any hoot, the stand will be skinned by our newest sponsor John Ferris with FBN Woodworks. Nothing but great things to say so far.

The stand will be a modern look, very similar to some things you have seen already (Big Rick's Cube, etc). I just love the clean lines and sleek look. It will be Red Oak hardwood framed. I really fell in love with the grain and look of the Red Oak while shopping around, as I was literally 1 day away from doing this myself before FBN joined the boards. So here are some progress pics. It will be stained a dark/ espresso/ redish color and satin clear coat finished when its all finished up.

You will notice that I have abandoned the suspended canopy idea. As it turns out, I need my lights a lot lower to the tank than originally planned for optimal growth with all these colored sticks. The canopy would have been a monstrosity reaching all the way to the ceiling so I opted for a traditional top but will still make a movable light rack on ball bearing drawer slides to get access when needed (might need your help John).

As far as livestock and equipment goes, no major changes. Added a bunch of wrasses (new addiction) and a few new sps. As always, thanks for following along. Hopefully it wont be another 8 months before I am back with another update.
