hi everyone,
I'm setting up a nano reef in a 5.5 gallon, this is not my first saltwater but is my first small set-up. I already have the strong lighting epquipment needed, nano korlia, marineland filter, etc but I'm curious if I need to do a refugium? I've been researching and reading about nano's and such and come acoss the filters with protein skimmers etc. Are these any good? Also read about converting an aquaclear into a refugium. I know I need a nano protein skimmer which i have not purchased yet. Does anyone know what is a good one but also not too expensive.... Also any ideas on a refugium? Please help all information will be greatly appreicated. Thank you :)

I'm not running a skimmer on mine either? I have live rock rubble in the back chamber and that's it. Good water change schedule and you should be good to go.

no skimmer for me either on my NC6gal, 1 gallon water change a week works well, just set up a 10 gal fuge, but it hasn't been up long, works well so far but don't think its necessary.
