Got fans out, but its not helping, I tried Ice in ziplock bags in the tank and that didnt help either....
Gonna have to try bigger bags I guess.

You've got to evaporate more...

try adding an airstone to your sump, with a diffuser and a fan blowing STRAIGHT at it. Also, try to introduce bubbles in the main tank. Turn on the "airator" options on any powerheads, and kick all the ceiling fans up high...

Also, if your fridge is running, you COULD try to use it as a cooler evaporator (short term) with some judicious amounts of tubing.....

If there are pumps in the tank that you can do without until it is fixed, turn them off. They are adding additional heat. If you have a good airstone going that is creating circulation then you can do without the pumps.

ya'll can freeze several 2 liter bottles of water. Put one or two in, rotate them as they thaw out. Easier to deal with than ice in a ziplock bag. Less chance of leaking as well. Good luck guys.

Great news!!! Our AC and Heater both need to be replaced!!!....

Both of them turn 20 years old this year. He said our heater, if we had turned it on, would have been leaking carbon monoxide into the house.

I find it hard to believe that the heater would be creating carbon monoxide, but that is what my wife told me he said. He may have said carbon dioxide.

I don't know if it is practical for you but you could get an inexpensive window air conditioner for emergencies. When my power goes out, I crank up the generator but it doesn't have enough juice for central A/C. But, it will run my window air conditioner which makes sleeping an option :)
If you could get one running in the room with your tank(s), it might help a bunch. Dunno.

Anyway, hope everything works out for you.....

Good point, can get a couple of those for under a $100 a piece and that would cool down the bedrooms. Except I dont think the association would let me have them sticking off the outside of the house.

For a short term fix, noone will say anything... even in Gustapo-land, err the Woodlands :)

I'm in the woodlands also... they can be bastages here. The AC is working for now, repair guy said coil is bad, it also has a freon leak and is 20 years old. He said if the coil isn't replaced, the hole thing will crap out within a month or 2, and he felt it was a waste of money to replace the coil due to the age and condition of the entire system.

If it does go down, we'll go pick up one of those single room AC's.

That isn't too bad. It could be worse, I suppose.
