The most expensive aquarium store in houston award goes to Aquarium World, on the northside. The prices at that place crack me up. Even their super discount clearance no-returns section is above market average (think: $175 coralife skimmers).
agreed...

i heard they sold coralife t-shirts, you know the ones that you get for free in a bucket of coralife salt, for $20 each or something like that.

ROFL ha mann you had me laughing for a while with the shirt comment.....

I think he should be a sponsor because sponsorship = more traffic and recognition.

Example I would never have went or known about T&T's anniversary sale and raffle if not for there sponsorship. When I need something the first place I look is the sponsor's area. Almost every time a sponsor puts a post up a check it out.

It just seems like cheap advertising to people that want your products but, maybe a sponsorship is not cheap I do not know I guess I need to renew my membership and be more in involved too...LOL

He does have a very nice store. I do not like the way I get different prices evertime I ask a different person. It makes you want to sample all the emplyees before buying.

Yes his prices are by far the highest in the area. One does have to pay to keep a nice place.

I had to buy a B&W false Perc because my wife told me to get a mate for the one I had. I had to pay way more than other places but he had it on hand, looked good, and the wife was happy. I guess it was worth it.

There are some other places to go in this area and I go there first as the pricing is about right. Then lastly go to AAF. He needs to try and get us to go there first as we run out of money before we get there.

Sponsorship would help - not holding breath though.

trust me, if kevin thought he'd get more traffic or better quality traffic by sponsoring marsh, he would.

i've asked him to be a sponsor and he keeps telling me he has a very loyal following who've never even heard of marsh and that it wouldn't be fair to give marshians a discount but not his regular customers. heck, every time i go in there he has a few higher end items and they're all sold.

bottom line is, his store is the absolute hands down best in the southeast houston area. his tanks are always immaculate, he always has rare/unusual livestock, and his knowledge is virtually unrivaled. not to mention, he's an acrylic master.

his prices are occasionally high, but from what i've seen they aren't outrageous...unless the fish/coral is extremely rare or unusual.

I've already told him that we have sponsorship levels that no longer require the discount. He still was not interested so I'm not sure what his reasoning is for not wanting to be a sponsor.

there are quite a few obstacles but we gotta start somewhere and if the Out of town companies on the East coast are willing..........Why not the very local ones?
LFS are gonna have more competition for local business from companies on the East Coast/West Coast entire US.
Makes sense to me-as a former business owner -I would want to keep all my options open and as many people well served.
