What return are you using Aggie? I will be for sure going with an MP10 for this tank. Although I like the gyre as well I just know Ecotech is solid from past experience. Which scape do you like??

The last one for sure of the two islands! Also I'm thinking about upgrading the back pump but I'm still using the stock one. I would go with the mp10 over the gyre for sure.

Heck yeah last one is my fav also [emoji1360] The MP10 looks so clean and works amazing probably going to go with XR15 radion from Ecotech as well and get the reef link to connect everything together. Still lots of work before I get water in this tank. I'm in no hurry though

I agree. I'm getting an mp10 the moment one of my power heads crap out. Also have you thought about doing a dual light system. I noticed a real positive change when I supplemented my kessil led with two t5s[emoji16]

Ah man don't tell me that! I was just going to run one light. I do like those kessil pendants though they are sharp. And The AI prime looks amazing as well

Haha trust me I was struggling too! It's just such a spread on this tank for one light to handle. Especially if you want to do sps. Most anything else will be fine otherwise

I will be starting out with LPS and some softies first. Not in a hurry for any SPS! Many updates to come I'll use this for my build thread.

Anyone have trouble with the Carib sea aragonite Fiji pink sand blowing around in their tank. Seems like the grain is very small. Larger than oolite though

IMO, i'd ditch the egg crate. Just a detritus trap. Serves no real purpose.

Update:

Tank is doing fine, temp is pretty stable with the cobalt heater(by far the best heater I have ever had). I ended up buying a temp regulator at first, but I think I'm going to hold off installing it for now. Temp stays around 78.1 and have not seen it higher that 78.6, pretty happy with that considering its a nano!

Still cycling at this time. Ammo starting to fall and seeing the Nitrites spike and getting Nitrate readings with my API kits. Going to start setting up some QT tanks when I get some time.

Question, Do you guys think I could do a water change of 5 gal after the cycle so I can put that water in a QT? Or would it start another cycle with the new 5 gal of water I would add?

Need a little help and advice from you guys. I added a dottyback, hammer coral, torch, and some xenias last sunday. This past week params have been all over.

Ammo .25
Nitrites .50 - 1.0
Nitrates 40

I believe we were overfeeding by giving the dotty back Mysis shrimp 2 x day. Ive done several 5 gal water changes and started dosing stability from kent marine daily to attempt to have more bacteria to catch up with the bioload. Tank is about 2 months old. Everything seems fine in the tank. Nothing has died but I know if these numbers stay here things will go badly. Should I continue to do water changes daily?

Yes, continue with water changes. Your tank is not cycled. My recommendation is to remove the fish and put into a separate QT. Ghost feed the tank a small amount every day until it can process the nutrients.

I would also recommending posting this problem in it's own thread. Not everyone reads build threads.
