I routinely go through Aquatic world when I go up to B&B. So far I haven't been tempted to purchase anything from them because of the types of behavior listed by the others on this list.

The first time I went in there I was looking for selcon, so when a guy asked me if I needed help I told him what I was looking for. He said he'd never heard of it, and asked me what it was for. I told him I was going to use it to soak food in before feeding it to the anenomes. He then went on a rant about anenomes, and clownfish, and how eveyone thinks they're so cute together, but that nobody understands that the clownfish is actually KILLING the anemone. What the heck?

This was my first impression of them. It hasn't improved. They generally seem rude, lazy, uninterested at best. Or totally ignorant, and willing to spout off a ton of mis-information at worst.

This is sort of off the beaten path of this thread, but it applies to the original issue of the gift certificate being received.... there is a fairly new website where folks can buy and sell gift certificates. If you receive a gift certificate and you'd rather have cash (as in.. to use at a different LFS?), you can sell it there (not for full face value, of course). Take a look... www.certificateswap.com . I also understand that the site is owned by 17 and 19 year old guys. Wish I'd have thought of it! There are not a lot of certificates there yet, since it's still a fairly new website, but the number should increase as word gets around.

well, yes customer service, quality product, & knowlegable staffing should come first; well IF this were a PERFECT WORLD...sadly, it is not & this is not wallgreens...SO, as w/ EVERYWHERE you go, there are plus's & minus's to EVERY LFS...

this particular one just happens to be 1 of best LFS nearest me, so tends to be the one I have to go to; B&B's IS a little closer, BUT little stock on salt water selection live & drygoods w/ prices being best w/ the inverts; not so sure i would get a coral from them though....

back to A. W. ---I tend to frequent them mostly only IF they happen to have that handy dandy 20% sale; also, they do tend to have wide selection on livestock & drygoods & YES, attitudes for customer service sometimes do wreak, but what's most important to me from them is do they have it & is it a decent price...not how do they act towards my purchase...just my PERSONAL POV

but to each there own

P.S.

it mostly bothered me that they went way up on LIVE ROCK; but than again, so did most places
