Im sure most of you guys know not to go there. but as for me, that LFS is a 1min walk from my house so i just go there to check it out. i was in the market for a new skimmer this week so i went there to check for prices. i wanted the PM SE100 (which i bought at city pets for 180), the guy said he wanted 249 for it, so i said ok i'll come back. few hours later i come back to AW cause city pets had ran out of gate valves and i had seem them before there, so i asked him about it he said he might have one, but since i didnt know what size valve i needed i brought in the skimmer since it was in my car ( maybe i messed up here?) he was like oh where you get this at? so i said city pets for 180, he said, oh.. sorry i dont have any gate valves, all the ones i have are the ones for the skimmers i have over there, i just took them off so people dont steal them. so i said ok and left, today i went back to check on a price for a waste collector (had them for 89) so i asked him if he could give me a competitive price from city pets, he said how much they sell em over there? i said, 55 bucks for the 4" one. he said i cant give you no discount that big you go buy it from them if you want it that cheap. I dunno where this is going to, but thats just a REAL nice way to run a business, i guess.. but anywho just wanted to share that with you guys, never buy stuff from that store, they suck.

If we expected all of the stores to compete with City Pets, we would no longer use any of them...that includes our sponsor stores.

When I bought my SEIO pumps, I shopped around a bit only to find that City Pets beat everyone in town by $10-20 each. That doesn't mean that all of our sponsor stores suck, that just means that City Pets has great prices.

I used to frequent Aquarium World quite a bit. I don't really go there much anymore because of their prices. That being said, I don't think any store should be held to match everyone's prices. That's the beauty of free enterprise. There's plenty of people out there that love Aquarium World, otherwise there wouldn't be an Aquarium World.

And for what it's worth, we have a couple of sponsor stores that I think are just as expensive as Aquarium World. I simply think they've always received the bad reputation because of their failure to get on board as a sponsor.

I like most of our sponsor stores, well i like them all but 2 maybe 3. True City pets has the lowest price but i find i pay more at other stores because i dont like the drive or IMO others can have better friendly service. AW people dont seem to know much and they are way over priced. 15 cents per ghost shrimp! I go there just to see their system.
Service determines where i go.

Shopping at Aquarium World is nuts I would never pay their prices I don't know why this suprised you g3x5 have you been to alot of the other stores in town?

I think g3x5's talking about Aquatic World and if I remember correctly it's at the old Fish Ranch II location on Jones Rd. While I agree with you about the pricing of Aquarium World, I also have to look at travel time, it's only 5 minutes from my place and it’s the easiest place for me to get my water from.

If we're talking about the one on Jones, I have been there a few times and thought they were overpriced and nothing looked real happy.
Aquariumworld on 290 while I agree they are expensive I've gotten excellent service from them when I need it and 2 or 3 of the women that work there really know their stuff and have obvious concern for their fishy friends. If you are going there with a specific need or question they are always helpful.
This soon to be member would love to see them become a sponsor and offer a healthy discount.

1. I believe the store he mention is NOT Aquarium World.
They are both close to each other and yes very similiar in name.

2. Pricing is anyones game in any business.
I know a place I can get my hair cut for 4.00. I know another that wants me to pay $60.00. City Pets has always been very very competitive, and always very very busy!

Have you guy's notice there are only women working at Aquariumworld? I don't go there very often, but they somtimes have some neat stuff.

Either way; my point was that if you're looking at prices, all of our LFS suck. Frags N Crabs blows everyone out of the water yet many still frequent our other sponsor and non-sponsor stores and pay a whole lot more. What I was getting at was, a store shouldn't get the "They suck" tag simply because they won't match other LFS prices.

yes i ment aquatic world on jones/290. i dindt give it the "they suck" tag just cause of prices, the whole store is bad, specially the service the people there give you, they dont care if you there to buy something on not. its hard to get help there you gotta ask someone twice just for them to get up out of their chair from watching tv. and as for prices i do agree that FNC has the best prices, on live stock, i dunno if he sells skimmers and stuff. i do get my critters and stuff from Jim cause he sells dirt cheap, and i love it.

They get the THEY SUCK tag because they are lazy. They tried to sell me a rock with ricordia on it for 250$ because it was "RARE".. I said whatever..

The only employee there is some mexican dude that just cleaned out the tanks and feeds the fish but doesnt know much about anything just the very basics, but yea they do sit outside smoking, even smoke inside i asked him once to put it out cause im allergic to ciggarette smoke, and he was like ok ok yes, i guess he must of not understood me cause he kept smoking.

Dont even get me started with Aquatic World. They are the worst! Those guys dont know how to run a business. Im very surprised that they are still open from all this time. I agree with gx35, they are the closest to me, but anytime I need something I dont even think about going to that place. And by the way, that guy in the back is not mexican, he's asian.

Not sure if there is any truth to this but I heard that the owners wife either owns or is very high up in a company and bought the store for her husband as a gift. I guess I heard that about a year or so ago...I've stopped by there a few times and don't plan on going back anytime soon. The smoking, tv watching, and eating at the counter was too annoying....not to mention that they didn't have much that I was interested in. LOL

There are 3 asians, 2 young ones and one that looks to be the father i guess? but they hired a mexican guy in his mid 40s i must say, he just goes around cleaning the gravel on the tanks and crap ive talked to him a few times but he doesnt know much, just enough to know how to clean fish tanks i guess.

Does he have long hair? And there are 3 asian guys.. all the same age about. And there is one who always stands in the back of the saltwater area which is also asian and is usually quiet. He's the only one who I ever see working. That makes 4 total. They are all vietnamese. Usually there are two asian who work in the front.. but one day I saw all 3 of them there with the guy in the back. Maybe they finally hired another person to help out since the young guys in the front work so hard??
