Looks like dendros which are a non photosynthetic coral and a VERY cool hitchhiker. When feeding take a turkey baster and squirt some cyclops or small mysis towards them so they can eat. They must eat out of the water column and don't have zooazanthanelle (sp) to convert lights into energy. If you have a dirty tank like me they can make with less targeted feeding but always recommended.

dendros!! here I was trying to think of what those things are called. I kinda figured it was ,I have some black sun corals in my bio cube that I spot feed. Same thing on those, picked up some live rock from 3CC about a year ago after two months the poylps started coming out.

They look nice but I might want to trade them for some cool zoas if anyone is interested. I just need to saw that rock in half so I can keep the GSP.

Ever once in a wile I will snag a good frags from pet city. I too have never got any good hitch hikers. I seem to come across plenty of zoanthid eating nudist though (from several pet stores) any one else see a lot of these guys? I bought some frags wile I was in corpus and I was supposed to get off a job that day. Well I had to stay 4 more days so I bought a small set up and kept it in the hotel. The small tank cycled on me and you wouldn't believe the bad critter that came out (along with the biggest bristle worm I ever seen) . Needless to say out of 7 frags I lost 2 to the hotel room cycle but got to see more creatures than I could be live come out of such small frags. Dip dip dip.

I dip everything now because of that. The kids get a kick checking out all the hitch hikers.
Just the other day I found a cool serpent starfish and put that mug in my sump. Not sure if he survived the dip for sure.
I can't tell you how many times I used to cringe looking at some of the frags at City pets covered in hair algae and still wanted those frags and thought... I can peroxide dip them ,but ended up not wanting to hassle with it and passed on some cool corals.
