Had the first cleaner shrimp awhile. 3 months with me and a while with it's tanks previous owner. Good natured too. Miss him. Came home to part of an exoskeleton and a fat brittle star. Don't know what happened. Had fed the star the day before and the shrimp would clean him so I think it was a problem molting. Got another about two months ago. Come home yesterday and no shrimp around or even any exoskeleten. Brittle star isn't fat. Finally last night noticed two shrimp antennas sticking out of the mouth of my BTA. WHAT! Just fed him two days ago. Wonder if my iodine is low. Calcium has been low at 360ppm and have been trying to raise it with Kent Liquid Calcium. Coralline algea still growing. Weird.

Did you get a pic of the BTA with antenna? What would be neat.

I cnat keep shrimp for anything I love the little guys but they never last with the exception of 1 or 2 out of like 50 pep shrimp hehe

No. I was thinking about it laying in bed but the lights were off and the BTA had already closed up and the maroon was in the way. This morning it was all gone. I think I'll get Salifert Iodine kit and see what the reading is. Hmmm.. what else can I get in the purchase "to save on shipping". :)

I really miss the first one. He would flip upside down and eat the flake food from the top of the water when I fed. The second just sat there unless something came near. The first one would come clean your hand if you stuck it in the tank.

Is it possible that the maroon killed the shrimp and dragged it into the anemone?

I used to have a tomato clown that always eyed my 2 cleaner shrimps. I got rid of the clown and still have the anemone. The shrimps antenae sometimes get tangled in the anemone but always manage to get out.
