I tested out the temps long before I put any live stock in. It was running in the low 90s  . I added a 5 inch fan for evap cooling (cheaper than a chiller). It has brought temps down to 79-80. Good enough :D . The light and fan are both on the same timer. So they come on together and go off together. Only downside is I lose a half gallon of water a day to evaporation. I am in the process of setting up an ATO.

I would like to run MH on my 28 but I am nervous about the heat and having to top off like crazy, but on the other hand I would really like some nice sps so it might be worth it

The heat is a problem with MH's. A chiller is an option but they are to darn expensive. That is why I went with a fan. My ato should be up and running soon. That will keep water parameters more stable.
At first I was going to do a softy tank, but just like the time before when I was in the hobby, I would end up wanting sps corals. I am actually going with montipora's mostly. They are easy, even for a 14g nano. I am shocked by the growth rate on the monti caps
The fire and ice digitata has trip'ed its size in two months. The caulestreas are gowing slow. The spongades is moderate.
I am still looking for some small encrusting montiporas frags.

keep me posted really like your tank. I was looking on craigslist for a chiller but really dont want to spend more than 150. Wonder if the attach on aquarium fans work well?

The dual fans work great. Or. you could just go to wally world and get a 5 inch clamp on fan for $10

Looks like you are getting great SPS growth and color! Have you posted this on RC or somewhere else? It looks vaguely familiar.

Nope. This is the only place i have posted, except for my FB page. I have recently added some acro frags from Frags and More, thank you Don. I have actually had to remove some of the monti cap. It is growing way to fast. I am going to continue the grow out until summer time. I am also having to harvest chaeto every three weeks. I have to make a move in June so we will see how it is handled. New tank will be in the works for summer time. 120g I hope. Might actually take a pt job to pay for it.

I have also notice double oral disks in the krypto caulstrea, so I am expecting some splitting soon. The blue caulstreas have all started splitting.

The True Tryee undata is growing very slowly as is the sestosa. Niether one liked alot of light.

Zoas did not like the strong light either.

I might set up a small zoa tank just because I miss em so much.

I have also noticed that the purple Monti dig and german blue monti dig arent very colorful under 14 k. My next bulb will be 20k. More than likely a Phoniex bulb.

Tank looks great so far. Any fish or plans for fish? I don't think I've seen any in the photos you've posted.

Currently I only have a couple of blue legged herms, turbos and some astrea snails. The astreas have reproduced already. My little girl wants me to get a nemo of course but I am sure I want I royal gramma basselt. Dont think I will stuff any more in there. The sps' wont like it. I am thinking of a pep shrimp now I have the ato. I have some aptasia that needs to munched.
