So I haven't updated the thread in a month. I've been feeding them super-ultra-enriched BBS every other day along with mysis every day. They grow soooo slooowwwllyyyy. The good news is that they're big enough to sex easily enough, especially with full big bellies. I'm going to South Padre for a 5-year anniversary trip this weekend but next week I'll start contacting the people who reserved fry awhile ago, and have them pick up their little Banggais. They should definitely be big enough for smaller tanks (without triggers or anything with a huge mouth).

A contractor has been skinning my stand and installing cabinetry around my new 150g tank this week, so I had to remove the ramshackle 20-long the Banggais had been staying in. I bought a 5g sterilite container at Wal-Mart for 4.97, drilled some holes in it and am floating it inside my 150 now. They don't seem to mind the tighter quarters too much; in the 20-long they all hung out in the same spot anyway.

One funny thing I noticed is that the pair of adult Banggais do NOT recognize their offspring through the plastic wall, and they would love to tear them to pieces. For the first two days the female would charge at the plastic, open her mouth and generally look angry about the presence of a dozen other Banggais in her tank. The male looks goofy with a mouthful of eggs (it seems to make his eyes bulge out) but he circles the tupperware container too. I took a picture of them.

Cool. Nice job. Mi e are still to small to sex. I just like being able to feed them mysis rather then live foods. I have another batch coming on Sunday. I have been trying to keep older babies with younger babies because I have been running out of room. Last week though I noticed an older fish with a younger fish in his mouth. So as a result rather then having about 50 babies I think I have about 35 with more coming.
