Installed the bean and it works great except everynow and then I get a flush and sometimes it will do it repeatedly until i adjust. Any ideas? Thanks, Dave

P.S. Rocketsurgeon, I know you will most likely read this, so a special thanks for the bean info and for pump choice. Went with the 1250 eheim which works perfect.

When you make your adjustment do it in small increments and then wait for the flow to adjust. I had adjust my valve in 1/8" increments until I got it dialed in. Post some pics of your setup it may help in finding the issue.

Another method I used, was to take the lid off the open channel during adjustment phase, and used a flashlight to look inside the pipe. I made adjustments till I saw the water trickle down the open pipe.

Keep in mind that it takes the system several minutes to adapt to the adjustments that you are making. My advantage, was my tank is right next to my TV. I would make an adjustment during every commercial or 10 to 15 minutes. This gave the tank time to adapt and settle between adjustments.

Finally, once I replaced the ball valve with a gate valve, fine tuning was a piece of cake!

Mine will change flow slightly every now and then, needing me to make somewhat large adjustments. Not sure what causes this. But like everyone else is saying, make small adjustments and wait a bit.

When it is flushing have people found more flow to fix the problem during adjustment or less flow? I've got a gurgle buster that will flush every couple of hours and not sure which way to adjust

If it is flushing, then the drain is operating faster than the fill, no? Turn up the pump or close off the drain.

If it is a bean design, by closing the drain, it allows water to escape the open channel.

Remember, make minimal adjustments. If it flushes every couple hours, allow that much time before making another adjustment.

Ya, it should not be flushing at all.
Close the gate valve on the main drain pipe until water starts flowing down the emergency pipe. Then start making small adjustments, waiting a while between each adjustment, until the water stops flowing down the e-drain. At this point you should be good. Once at this point, you should only need minor periodic adjustments. There shouldn't a change so drastic that it causes flushing. And you should not need any additional equipment. Just these two drain pipes should make a completely silent drain/overflow.

Here's a photo of my overflow.
The main drain pipe is in front with the strainer on it.
The e-pipe is behind sticking out of the water about a half inch.

what size tank is this on? i am finding that on tanks less than 75 gals, it gets tricky dialing this system, i think the 1.5 inch drains are too large for small tanks. it should be modified to 1inch drains and 3/4 returns, or 3/4 drains with 1/2 inch returns, like on 40 breeders. only thing is you won't find a sanitary tee that small. i can't get mine to make a full siphon without pushing 700gph down my pipes, which is too much for my 20g long sump. so you can hear the water trickle on mine. but i also know it's because i have lots of bends and curves.

cichlidtx system only uses the one drain, the second is not active, if i remember correctly. and he has 1.5 drains all the way to the sump, i have 1inch coming from the tee.

also make sure you put the airline on the siphon line, not the line you ake adjustments with.

I found some air trapped in my drain pipe and after I bled the hose the system is working just fine. Flexrac, I’m using a ¾ drain with a ½ return, pump is a ehiem 1250 and I’m really happy with this setup.
