Hi Hi everyone, I'm planning to buy me a new acoustic beginner guitar. I have a crap-tastic 3/4 Sigma guitar that a buddy gave me a long time ago. I know that it's not just me but also my crap-tastic guitar that suck. I have tried to learn to play on that guitar a few times, but it's just too beat up. No matter what I do, it still sounds horrible with that zinging brap brap noise. The 2 bridge thingies (one on the neck and one on the body by the sound port) are all cracked and have multiple notches in them. No matter how hard I press the string on the fret board, it still brap braps. The stupid wire jumps from one notch to the other.

So, any suggestions for a relatively cheap but good/great beginner acoustic guitar. I'm thinking of spending around $300. I like idea of getting a guitar with the notch on them so that i may reach the frets down in the body easier.

Also, can someone explain the differences, advantages and disadvantages between a curved back and a flat back guitar.

I dont know any really in that price range, but if your talking about the nut and bridges that are messed up you can get them repaired for little of nothing, my taylor costed 30 for a new nut.

yeah, I know they are affordable, but I don't like the feel and sound of that craptar. it's just not right to go out and spend $25 on a $75 guitar with horrid sound and feel.

I believe fender has a really nice guitar, id take a trip out to guitar center and look, also keep in mind you can haggle down the prices. I got a geddy jazz for 650.

too bad you live a little far away. it would be nice to have someone with experience to go guitar shopping with me. I might have to get back to you in a month and see about this guitar business.

I worked at a guitar store for over 5 years in Cali, and I personally wouldn't reccomend a Fender acoustic. They are tinny and very shallow unless you plan on playing through an acoustic amp. (And then you should probably get an electric)

Save your bucks and get a baby taylor or a low end martin. You would be much happier with the sound you get fromk those opposed to a fender.

You said you play classical style, do you want a naylon string? Rodriguez acoustics are pretty amazing, and come in a wide price range.

Agree with the Taylor or Martin, they are about the only that I would consider getting. I am an electric guy myself, I owned at one point an 84 Gibson Silverburst Custom Les Paul and I recently sold my Paul Reed Smith Custom 22.

I plan to get nylon but it's not a debate thing. My fingernails will be a little longer than the meat at the tips. Lucky for me me nails are really strong so no need to glue fakes on. sees for saving my bucks, I only plan to spend up to $325 give our take a few and that's it. it's going to be a long, hard and rewarding hobby, not a true passion. I really don't see my self fishing out the dough on this. So any recs in that price range and anyone wanny go guitars shopping with me in a month? I was lookingon clist and three are a few on there. Too bad I don't know enough to see a good deal (although my personal feel with it has a big influence on one).
