Wanting to reuse the fluval stock pump on my evo 5 in he media area and need to drill out a hole... any tips on modding an already setup tank? Best way to remove water without disrupting sand bed? What to do with live rock and corals?

i am guessing I just find a similar sized container and move all rock and water out while I drill?

What is the best way to add water back in without stirring up sand bed?

any experienced veterans that can lend any tips would be appreciated. Since I am only dealing with about 4g of water volume everything is a bit touchy so I don't want to disturb very much as the tank is still new.

Thanks

If the tank is still new, no worries about disrupting the sand bed. Just get a few 5 gallon buckets and separate everything out. Sand and rock in one, corals and fish in the other one or two. Keep everything submerged. Air stones in both. You could easily go 24 hrs like that. Use your same tank water. Put it all back in when you're done. Should be pretty easy. If anything, use two gallons of tank water to rinse your gravel before you put it back in and top off with two gallons of new salt water. Easy peasy.

If you're worried about stirring up the gravel and making a cloud when you put the water back in, place a small saucer on the sand bed or hold a coffee cup in your hand just under the surface of the water and pour the water into that.
