If you guys haven't been to Village Tropical lately, Scott got a nice shipment of fish and corals in. There is a humongous pink pagoda (turbinaria) with big fat polyps that is just stunning, and with your MARSH discount is only $42. I wish I had room for it! 8O There were lots of mushroom rocks and other neat stuff as well.

I had asked Scott, the saltwater livestock manager, about getting me a chevron tang a couple of weeks ago, and guess what was waiting for me today? A gorgeous chevron tang that is fat, sassy, ich-free and ate very well while I was there. He had been at the store since Tuesday and watched for signs of good health and vitality. I can't wait until he loses his nervousness in his new home so I can snap a picture of him. Yeah, that's right...all you who went by there and saw SOLD on that tank...he was there for me. :D :D :D Hehe

Anyway, big thumbs up for Village Tropical, our newest MARSH sponsor!

Haha, I so rarely get to show off anything new. :) I guess I should have wiped the water spots off the glass first. Here he is:

Oh yeah, and the little monkey is eating both green hair algae and that annoying red fuzzy cottonball-like algae. What a bonus!!!!!!!!!! Of course, he's pooping like crazy but at least the algae has been processed into something the detritivores can eat and is not growing on the rocks. Hehe

When he is done with your green hair algae, can I borrow him? I have a smorgasbord for him in my tank ;)

Hey, Jim, do your lettuce nudi's that you got from etrop stay on the glass all the time? Mine do and I'm wondering why. I'm about to throw them off in Reef II where they should have enough hair algae to last their entire short lifespans. I expected them to do well in Reef I but what little brown algae was in there growing on the rocks was gone within two days of putting them in there.

Mine do well, and transition from glass to rocks and back. They will pick at the hair algae occasionally, but really are not putting a dent in it to any real extent. I doubt that they will do much before they live out their lives. I am hoping that they spawn and I can get a replenishing supply of the, but I am not holding out too mcu hope for that.

So, hows about a loan of that Chevron ;)

Hahaha. :D

I did have something rather unfortunate happen, though, and if you're interested in a juvenile Atlantic blue tang, I ordered two of them from the Drs awhile back and they didn't ship because they were unavailable. Their shipping policy is that when an item becomes available, they send it whenever, so I got an email today that those two tangs are on their way. 8O Good thing I don't have a life or anything and can be home when their packages arrive.

They are very pretty fish that look like yellow tangs as juveniles but they are a more pastel shade of yellow, with a beautiful blue edge to their fins and blue eyes. When they're adults, they are a gorgeous shade of blue. Let me know if you might be interested.
