Hello, just got this new green BTA in yesterday, and this is what he's looked like since I opened the bag. He's moving his tentacles a little bit, and theres been some periodic release of smoke like material from his mouth. Also, there's curly white things coming out of his mouth. This is my first anemone, and was wondering if it is dead, going to die, or if there's anything I can do to save it. TIA :?

The curly white stuff is basically its innards. This nem is under a lot of stress. Need information on your tank. How old is it, size, water parameters, lighting, etc... Also, how did you acclimate the nem and did it come locally or was it shipped?
In a nutshell, it's hard to tell you what to do and what not to do. It's a toss up as to whether or not it'll make it at this point. With good conditions, it's hard for a nem to recover once it startes to expel like that.

Thanks! Tank is about 6 months old, 100 gallons.

Parameters: Ammonia: 0, Nitrite: 0, Nitrate: 0, pH: 8.0, salinity: 1.024, temp: 79.

Lighting:, 2 x 250W MH, 14000K bulbs

Drip acclimated the anemone for 1 hour. It was overnight shipped, and maybe it was doomed to never make it. It looked like crap at first sight.

I've now removed it from the main tank so that if it does die, it won't kill anything else.

If you've got another holding tank to keep it in, or even your sump, put it in there. Just keep an eye on it. If it continues to expel and begins to dissolve, then you'll need to take it out. Could be that it's just very stressed from the shipping.
