I'm new too

I'm pretty new at this myself, but that SG seems a little low to me. I usually mix mine closer to 1.022-1.024. That may be personal perference. If thas SG is Ok with you, then go for it. I bought some once from a store near me and the SG was good but the pH was low, so just test it before you add it to your tank. If it's good, then go for it.

I personally wouldn't because:

1. What kind of salt was used?
2. Trace elements up to par? pH, Alk, Mg, Ca???
3. Phosphates?
4. Salinity is too low.
5. Peace of mind mixing myself.
6. Too expensive in the long run.
7. How long's that stuff been sitting on a shelf?

The only time I'd buy that stuff is if it were an emergency... but hey... that's why we have this board. ;)

I used to buy water when I started.. got expensive real quick..
you spend $1 plus tax on premixed water or you can buy a bucket of salt for $45 (200gal).. of course you will eat the cost up front for an RODI unit and the salt but it will save you in the long run

Just another suggestion. You could also get some five gallon jugs from walmart and go to a local watermill and youll have RO water for a couple of bucks and you could buy a bag of salt.

I just dont like the fact of already buying saltwater.

use to buy saltwater from aquarium world.
.50 for fresh and 1.00 for salt, not shelf kept.
they pour it fresh, right behind the register up front they have two pipes that run to the back. they fill you up right there. also sell buckets. they use coralife salt, i know because they are selling the free shirts that come in the buckets, LOL.
stopped using them and got a rodi, best investment, plus if you have to do a lot of top off, it helps to have in house purified water.

I just went to Aquarium World this past Saturday and the Salt Water price (evidently went up) is $1.25 per gallon+ tax. YIKES!
