I found two black skirted limpets in my tank while I was tearing it down this weekend. The pic is not mine, I found it on a web page but it is identical.

Are these things bad? I have seen a silver one in my tank.

the black ones aren't that bad but they will eat sponges, I had some that would always eat my sponges. :(

Sorry to contradict you, Leslea, but I did a ton of research on these guys because they reproduce like crazy in my tank. They are Scutus unguis and are highly beneficial eaters of microalgae in the reef tank. They are beautiful little cleaners and are mostly nocturnal. You can find more information in the May 2004 issue of Reef Central's magazine, "Reefkeeping."

Well then there must be two identical ones cause I used to have an awesome blusish sponge that I would watch those suckers devour it like it was Sherri's cheesecake (not that I've had Sherri's cheesecake, still waiting)

Your sponge must have been algae-flavored. LOL

Ummmm, cheesecake. I can make a yummy cheesecake, rich and creamy and without a cracked top too (a sign of overcooking). :D
