I just bought a Aquanetics Chiller and I am hooking it up this weekend. I am planning to run it in a closet. The closet also houses my Metal Halide Ballast. Is the Heat from the Closet going to affect the performance of the chiller? The closet does not have and A/c vent and gets a little warm. The Chiller is 1/4 Hp and will be used on a 120 to drop the temp 2 degrees. Please tell me other things to consider when placing a chiller. Any info will Help. Thanks in Advance.

be careful about putting the chiller in a closet or any enclosed space that does not have adequate air circulation. Yeah, the heat from the ballast as well as the heat exahusted from the chiller will affect the performance if it is not exhausted from the closet. I'm assuming this is a standard size small clothes closet. If the closet is really large, it may not be a problem. However, you are only trying to drop the temp. by 2 degrees. That's not very much and rather unusual. Most chillers are needed to drop water temp. by at least 5 degrees. Strong surfaced agitation of the water will also help keep temp. down.

good luck

Well I got a really good deal on the chiller plus I want to run my home a/c less. So it may need to cool a little more. Yea it is a small closet Would it help if I put a dryer vent in it leading outside with a fan?

yes.also the distance from the closet and the tank could make some difference. The shorter the distance the better
