I bought my first clam (4" deresa) this past weekend, and yesterday I noticed that my tank water appeared to be clearer than it ever has been. I know they are filter feeders, so I'm thinking maybe the clam "polished" the water for me? Maybe I'm crazy, but my wife commented on it too, so something must have changed.

That means my wife must be crazy too, because we both noticed it.

Depending on the size of your reef system, this derasa could of helped with the filtering of your tank water. This is why lots of reefkeepers keep the tridacna clams for that purpose. Besides their obvious beauty and if you have the correct environment to keep a clam, they will filter the water, and keep nitrates to a lower level.

In a weeks time I think you may be able to see some difference. Especially if both of you see a difference.
