My 75gal DT drains through 1in pipe, and a Mag-7 returns through 1/2in pipe. At 4ft head height, the pump can push at most 475gph. I'm not sure what the actual numbers are in my tank, but I bet it's not even close to that.

I want to connect a refugium to my sump. Can I use a single 1in bulkhead? Due to space constraints, I will have to plumb out the sides and use elbows like in this pic. Can 1in pipe with two 90deg bends handle this kind of flow (<475gph)?

Should I elevate the first tank (refugium) a few inches to help gravity-feed the sump? (The tank will drain into the refugium, then into the sump, and pumped back to the display tank.)

I set my second sump tank up about 3" higher than my other tank, but that was mainly because I do not have room for other plumbing. And I drilled two holes for 1" bulkheads just to be sure it would not overflow. As long as you check the plumbing regularly and dont have any large snails, one pipe could work. Good luck.
