Currently I'm using Korallin 1502 as a Sulfur Denitrator with excellent results. As my SPS are growing, I have a feeling that my Kalkwasser Reactor won't be able to supply enough calcium in the future so I've been thingking for solutions,as much as possible without costly answers. So I was able to come up with this:
Converting Phosban Reactor into Sulfur Denitrator using the same principles as Korallin 1502.This will replace my Korallin Denitrator so I can use it as a Calcium Reactor. With additional John guest fittings and a bubble counter this can also be use as a calcium reactor for smaller tanks.
Here's the process:
Bought some parts in Lowes as you can see in the pictures. They are 1/2".Pardon me cause I don't know what the name of some parts, but pictures do help.
I switch one of the 90 deg elbow to 45 deg angle(not pictured here, but you can see on the finished product).
Then I glued the T part to the input and output of the Reactor using Loctite Epoxy Putty.(I like this stuff)First time to use this I hope they are OK on saltwater.
I used Maxi Jet 600 because they have almost the same gph of Eheim 1048 which are used in Korallin Calcium Reactors:
With provided pictures, the rest are common sense like glueing, putting them together, using a teflon tape.
This unit has been tested without leak. The reactor was given to me by our very own Mike of RocknReef.
Any comments are welcome.
Thanks.
