I actually have some in my trunk I’ve been meaning to return to Lowe’s... bought it to try to keep crepe myrtle roots from spreading but had someone dig them out instead.

I went back and re-read what I put on page 1 using the same stuff Jared posted. I posted I was dosing 30ml in 200g. Not sure why I put that. I was dosing 10ml for a while but had a nitrate spike in the 50+ range. This was a few months ago now. I'm dosing 1ml now with no3 holding at about 15ppm now. Coloration has returned. If it continues to drop, i'll settle on 2ml/day and leave it a that.

I've had to join the club in needing to dose nitrates. Never in a million years did I think I would get to point of having to add something to my aquarium that I spent decades trying to get rid of. That's just nuts! But okay. Went with Green Leaf Aquariums Potassium Nitrate as suggested by @Cody. SUPER cheap. It was $3 for a 1 lb bag. I spent 4x as much on shipping! I ended up making a 500 ml solution such that it takes 2 ml of solution to increase my nitrates by 1 ppm for my aquarium volume.

After dialing back my Algae Turf Scrubber and dosing 1 ml of solution so far, I've restored my nitrates back up to 3.2 ppm. That new Hanna checker sure is nice! Starting to see a favorable response in some of the LPS. A question though, what is a safe increase of nitrates that I can safely introduce to get the levels up to around 10 ppm? How many ppm per day is a safe increase?

I've dosed up from 0-ish to 5ppm instantly without any noticeable issues.
If you want to play it safe, split it over two days.
Like I said in our pm, she is correct. I’ve tried playing with my tank to see how quickly I can push nitrates before the corals discolor or retract polyps, and 5ppm per day is about the cut off. However, I recommend starting at 2.5ppm raising per day then ramp up from there as the consumption increases.
