Do Ricordias keep their color or are they like SPS when you buy them, then they change? Im looking into these but dont want to take the gamble if they will brown out:

They won't brown out, but they could bleach depending on your lighting. Also, they may look very different under your lighting that under the lighting that the vendor is using.

Even so, their color will still be terrific under any good lighting.

THANKS GUYS!!!! You guys help me make my decision! They will be here Sat. I have a T5 lighting setup (blue) and they make the blues stand out nice!!! This would be perfect for my centerpiece rock. The only thing I am worried about is the flow. I have pretty strong flow. I read that they dont like too strong of flow. but I could be wrong.

Those are really nice looking. If you ever get or decide to make a frag let me know.
As expensive as those are I think Edward will have to charge $30 - $40 a polyp. :D

Do they reproduce so they can be fragged? or do they just get bigger in size?

There like BTAs they'll split on you. Also you can put a razor blade to their mouth and get them to split. Direct feeding always helps. If you want some good info I would check out the special interest forum on Reef Central.

Sometimes if they are really happy they will just split in half but you can also just take one mushroom and cut it in 4 pieces with alittle bit of the center in all 4 pieces and 4 will regenerate and most of the time where u cut it off the rock it will regenerate too. Iv done this with normal mushrooms.

This is from the www.GARF.ORG site.
"PROPAGATING RICORDIA
There are several species of Ricordia, but the most beautiful one comes from the Caribbean. The Caribbean Ricordia can be propagated using several different methods. The easiest method involves simply cutting the caps from several Ricordia and then dividing the caps into four equal pieces. These pieces can be placed in gravel until they attach."

Please share your source! Those are gorgeous!

I'd like first dibs to buy one (or trade, I have some nice orange ricordias) if one launches itself off the rock or you frag them.

Very nice aquisition!

Sherri,

My source was Reefer Madness. I couldnt think twice about these as they would of sold right from under me just like other pieces I tried asking for. Anyhow, here's the link.. put up today and gone today. ;)

Since you guys are experts at these corals, is it ok to place another type of ricordia next to them on the same rock or will they burn each other? For example, I have a red one that I recently acquired from Quoc as he is currently doing his tank move and I am babysitting some of his corals. Is it ok to place that one in the center of these or will it just repent from the causing it to float away hurting some of my SPS?
