I use an Eheim 1262 as a return pump on my 140. Yesterday, I had it out for cleaning and began thinking about how reliable this pump has been and then I began thinking about how old the pump was. I installed it in mid-2006 and except for a couple of months after Ike and a couple of months in 2011, it has been in service since then. If my math is correct, that puts it somewhere north of 63,000 hours of continuous operation. And the pump is in just about perfect condition.

IMO, that's an amazing number. I wish my skimmer pump and power heads lasted that long...

good luck,
Steve

BTW, I give it a thorough cleaning twice a year.

Ran one on my cube for over 2 years and now its been running my mixing station for the past 2.5 years.
Not a single hiccup, and really quiet.

Mine is not a 1262 but a 1260 and I think it's about 8/yrs. old.

Very reliable but a weak pump when it comes to GPH.
