I'm just wondering what type of live rock rubs people the right way and why they would recomend it. So if you have a favorite type please share.

i say if you have the money for it, then go for some Marshall Island Live Rock

its some of the best shapes, colors, coralline. just overall best ive seen yet.

if you dont have that much money, go with fiji, handpick it yourself from Global.
i got my Fiji Live Rock from Global and they have a bunch in a huge tub. plenty to pick from, lots of good shapes colors sizes.

I love Marshall Island. That is what I use in my tank. You dont have to buy the expensive Marshall island either, just as long as the shapes are good! I bought mine for $2/lb from Catalina Water comp in Cali. When I bought it, it was WHITE so it was considered base rock. I bought a small rock that was filled with purple corallin from a LFS and now my entire rock work is filled with it! Heres what it looked like when I first got it:

Now evertyhing is mostly purple as you can see some of it in this pic:

I have heard that Marshall was the best but the cost is not. Invincible have you ordered from oceanlife before? $2.00/llb is real cheap and sounds too good to be true. I also don't like the idea of ordering 100% cured rock because I'll have to cure it anyway after shipping and I wouldn't think the diversity of life contained on the rock would be the same as uncured.

Yes, the rock you see in my tank, is the rock from Ocean Life also known as Catalina Water company. I also thought it was true good to be true and it wasnt! I was told that this rock was already cured and I placed my rocks/water with my new tank and it felt like it never cycled. I just starting placing test corals and fish/inverts and everything was fine.

Kaelini, definetely my favorite. Good Tonga Branch is helpful in setting up your reef structure as well.

I will say TBS has the best life on their rock but I hate the shapes.

I've heard if you organize an LR group buy that certain people might question the quality of very nice rock when they see it after arrival. Even worse, they might expect you to eat the cost of LR rubble when they buy the big pieces.

Does anyone know anything about Brazilian Live rock? I've found only one online carrier and I've read about it being used in Reef Aquariums. I'm guessing that it is aquaculture only like Florida Live Rock because the few reefs off of Brazil are in trouble, however I've also heard it is great rock. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Michael
