Decided to get back into reef keeping after taking a break for several years. I'm starting off with a nano this time. I finished my rock-work last night and got water in the tank today. I also added some Dr Tim's nitrifying bacteria culture. Tomorrow, I plan on starting the cycle with ammonia addition. Here are some pics of the set-up and details of the build.

Tank- Nuvo Fusion 10 gallon
Lighting- AI Prime LED
Filter Media- still waiting for my shipment to arrive from inTank. Once it arrives I'll be running floss/chemi-pure elite/purigen in chamber #1 and I'm filling chamber#2 with MarinePure spheres

Looks good! Nice start. I have this tank too, great little tank.
I have marine pure spheres in the big middle compartment and still have <1 ppm nitrates.

Thanks, Dennis. In fact the reason I got this aquarium was because I saw your build on ReefCentral! BTW- I spent three full evenings reading your entire large tank build. It looks great!

The cycle begins! I dosed the tank with 0.9 ml of ammonium hydroxide (10% solution). After letting it mix for about 20 min in the tank, I measured the ammonia level at 3 ppm. I'll check tomorrow to see if Dr Tims bugs are doing their job :)

Well the fish-less tank cycle is sort of like watching paint dry; only it's slower :-/

The "bacteria in a bottle" doesn't seem to work nearly as fast as it's supposed to. I've dosed more of it every few days, but the ammonia is very slow to decline. I finally scooped some sand from my daughter's tank to add some additional bacteria "stock". I'll keep on creeping ahead as planned! LOL

Finally Added Something!!

After close to a month, my fish-less cycle finally finished up this weekend!! I celebrated by heading over the That Aquarium Place and getting some frags from Jamal. Here are some pics. I'll probably re-arrange things. I just set everything in the tank randomly for now.

It looks like the neon favia is adjusting to the new home. I was surprised to see the feeder tentacles so long from this little guy.
