from what I understand, a bottle of flatworm exit will treat a 300 gallon tank. So i need to use a whole bottle at once. I have some leathers that have flatworms and so i got a six line wrasse and a mandarine... both are said to eat flatworms... i have noticed the lessening of the flatworm population, but was wondering if i should just try flatworm exit..

anyone use it on a large reef tank? any problems?

Most of the biological controls are hit or miss. I bought a bottle of FE but I was too scared to use it. I started siphoning out the ones I could see every few days, but they would keep coming back (although in smaller numbers). Then I stopped dosing phytoplankton, and they stopped coming back after I siphoned them up. I didn't feed any DT's for a month and they just disappeared. I've been feeding DT's again for a few weeks now, and so far I haven't seem any come back. I'm thinking about dosing the FE now, to get whatever ones might be left in the rocks.

If you use the flatworm exit you need to get as many of the worms out first by siphoning etc. If you don't and have a large number of them the toxins they release when they die can be toxic to your fish and corals to the point that it kills them. They recommend using the flatworm exit and then using a net or siphon to get the dying worms out of your tank. Then doing a waterchange after the waiting period is strongly recommended.

Im currently fighting worms. Where did you get yours?

They are few times in life where you can seriously ask someone that.

I used FE a few weeks ago. Ive dosed my sump twice now and may dose the whole system again. I dont see any in my display but there are visibles in my sump. Im ditching my macros and starting over with some freshwater dipped caulepra from my display.

Do not under any circumstances underestimate the number of worms in your system. When I dosed it looked like the worm haulocost. There were dead worms flying everywhere around the tank. I had to siphon for about an hour. When they die they release toxins so get ready for a water change. At the rate these things multiply who knows how many could be in there. Make sure to follow the directions and use carbon.

If they are visible on the rocks and on your corals, try and siphon as many as possible before dosing.

I caught my outbreak early and am trying to keep their numbers down. I havent seen any in the display since my first dose but I am not taking any chances.

This is one of the many reasons to take precautions and "sterilize" new additions.
