Has anyone scuba'd the flower garden banks reef off the coast of texas?

I am curious how good of a dive trip this is, and how long it takes to get to the reef. From what i have read, the diversity of lifeon these reefs are not as unique as on other tropical reefs, but i think it would still be an awesome trip.

Flower Garden Trip

I have done the trip with Gulf Coast Diving LLC out of Freeport a couple years ago. The boat leaves Friday evening (I think 7-8) You arrive at the flowergardens around the time the sun is coming up. We made 5-6 dives on Saturday. You go to sleep and wake up sunday morning on the Stetson Bank which is the reef that is nearest to land. You make 2 dives at stetson bank on Sunday morning and then you are back at the dock around 5-6 sunday afternoon. The whole time you are there they are cooking and the food is awesome. The diving is great too. I would say this is advanced diving and you should atleast have 30-50 dives, due to depth, currents, seas, and amount of dives. Also Nitrox certs is almost a must for this trip and allows you to do all the dives. If you get sea sick you may think twice about the trip, as you will be on a boat for a while. Have Fun its a great Dive!
