I'm trying this out to see how things go. I'm using just the basic Fluval Edge kit, with Live Sand and a couple of pieces of Live Rock we had in the main tanks. A little False Percula Clownfish and a Cleaner Shrimp, along with some Gracilaria Algae. The tank has been up since Sunday and everything is doing wonderful so far. Since it's set up right next to the main tanks, I just remove about 5-10% of the water every other day and replace it with more. The salinity is remaining quite stable, everything else tests seem well.

Thought this was kind of fun to try out :p

i was wondering what you were doing with that.

quick hint order some leds to pump up the blues. and wire them up inside that canopy! oh yeah!

is it fully cycled rock? if i get some extra frags of some acans i may bring some up and just let them encrust that rock you have there.

I... crap, now I'm going to do that. I think I have just the product in store to do it, I'm not sure. Marineland sent us some 37G kit with an LED system on it. It's not "omgamazing" or even designed for anything but looking cool as far as I know, but... I'm totally ripping it out and putting it in the Edge today.

haha yea I'm going to do it when I get a chance when I go in today. And yea the rock is pretty much cycled, and has the good isopods all over it if you look closely.

sounds like you need to disassemble that thing and retrofit it to your canopy.

if this was your tank i'd say do mercurmaniac's (spellcheck?) DIY LED deal...id LOVE one of these...the "edge" tanks are awesome...but i'm not allowed to "buy" another tank...guess i'll have to win one at some LFS anniversary celebration...:p

p.s. by not allowed i mean...i'm not allowing myself...i've already gotten clearance from the GF since it's still "my money"

p.p.s. they're on sale for $99...i found a couple places online that had them

p.p.p.s. http://cgi.ebay.com/6W-14000K-MR16-...486?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e6051c8fe

p.p.p.p.s. didn't someone win one of these? *cough-d2mini-cough*? set up as a pico yet?

Yea I'm buying the black one tonight. Going with this premade water, live sand and a couple rocks to get me going. Modding this thing should be fun.

Btw, this will be my first personal tank ever. *gasp* I've been taking care of the petco tanks for nearly 2 years now, its time for my own! If things go bad ill just take them back to work.

It is but.. .where's the filtration in there?

Am I crazy for actually wanting to run a sump for a 6g tank? Or even a canister filter through the back...

You use the regular filtration that you normally would for the edge, some kind of hang on. This is just a $300 light for it, lol.

Yea but the filter isn't in that picture you posted, and by the looks of it, the filter wouldn't be able to fit. It's a AquaClear power filter, but with how much room that light takes up it wouldn't be able to squeeze in.

Maybe it's just the picture, but I can't imagine them selling a unit like this if it's gonna knock out the filtration.
