I'd be interested in anyone's experience with either the frogfish and/or the triggerfish. I'm expecially interested in the Picaso.

Karen-
Are you still planning on a reef in the future? If so those are not reef safe fish. If not they are really cool for a Fish only.

frogs and princes

Hi Karen,

Picassos are very hardy and do well with larger fish but as mentioned before, they (and all of the other triggers) are not reef safe. My personal favorites are the Atlantic queen trigger, the Pacific clown trigger and the Niger trigger.

Frogfish is a general name and generally applies to the bottom-dwelling creatures that exhibit a fishing "lure" to capture their prey. Many of these species can eat other fish almost as big as themselves. They don't move much, are generally well-camoflaged, but are fascinating animals but they don't put on much of a show for guests like more active fish like triggers.

I can't seem to make up my mind. I guess you can't have EVERYTHING, lol. There are several fish I'd like to try, but know you can have them in a reef enviroment, but then I start to think I could do the fish now and the reef later.

Not necessarily. According to Frank Marini, here are reef-safe trigger, like the Niger and Crosshatch.... it is all in the mouth position.

I agree about the niger trigger from personal experience. They're very pretty fish, too.
