i have a huge branching green with purple tip frog spawn. i have noticed that every once in a while a piece of it's tentacle is floating around the tank. i have checked it thoroughly and nothing is eating or destroying it. is this some form of asexual reproduction? has anyone had this happen to them?

I've seen one of the tentacles get real long and stringy from time to time.

i wouldn't call that spawning. regardless, corals can be irritated even in the absence of things picking at it.

Normally that happens to mine if a tenacle gets caught on something when it is trying to retract to fast, then the peice floats around for about 3 days before it finally desolves, warning, it still has the potential to sting what it touches, so don't let it land on your one polyp of Purple People Eater.
