I am going to be building a small tank (12" cube) and want to use glass. I however want to make the back pane out of acrylic so I can drill it and whatnot. Does anyone know if the tank would be structually sound if I used acrylic for the back pane and glass for the rest of it? Does silicon adhere to acrylic well enough is I guess what im asking. Thanks!

I dunno if it will be stucturally sound for you but I know that my sump is glass petsmart 29 with acrylic baffles I siliconed in and it adheres very well.

Silicone doesnt adhere to acrylic very well. The reason it works for baffles, is you typicaly use silicone on both side of the baffle. Its really the silicone to glass holding, and pretty much just sandwhiching in the baffle.
