I was in Tropical Fish Depot by Almeda Mall and was talking to one of the new employees there by the name of Scott. Looks like he was at VTF before that and is looking to work with the owner of TFD to get things kicked up a notch and get some better selections of Coral, Inverts etc... I think this will be a good thing for those of us down south hoping for a good close LFS.

That is great news. I am sure we will see a good improvement on what they get in...Scott is also very knowledgeable with SW fish and corals.

Yeah Sherri its Scott, I meant to post the other day and forgot. JJ is leaving for now, I guess.

Give him a few weeks, things will be different there if the ownership backs him. Course thats a big if.

Sign her up Tom. Tell her we'll work there part time :)

That system is fairly new and has a bunch of capacity. The reef set-ups are iffy but they could work on those. They really have the equipment to potentially compete with the Houston shops with some financial backing.

JJ really did that? Wow, interesting. I always relied on him when I would go to TFD. He's been my liaison there for years....when I asked him why prices went up quite a bit on their SW stuff, he would tell me it was all the owners' decisions, and that he couldn't do anything about it, and that they were the ones that wouldn't give the discounts nor go down on the price. Guess I was snowed all along, if what you're saying is true. ....He even remembered my little boy's name even when we wouldn't go in there for months at a time...oh well.

City Pets does have awesome prices. But they are one of the stores I have always been disappointed that would say they didn't give MARSH discounts, esp. when I will usually buy a good deal of dry goods and live all at the same time there. I guess it's their choice, but it would be nice to see if some negotiating would work. :)

The only problem we have is if we let them join in with no discount then other sponsors will want to do the same thing and we believe the Marsh discount is one of the key reasons for being a member... if not that it is at least a great perk

i talked them about supporting the club several times.. they are ok w/ the $150 donation but not the 10% discount to the similar reason Tommy mentioned.. Donnie seemed to be ok w/ the discount (and he usually gives us the discount as a frequent customer anyway) but his parents (the owners) weren't thrilled w/ that idea :D

Well they need to know that not everyone would get the discount... like Tommy said 1 in every 100 are only Marsh members... I think it might be more than that but maybe it would help.

I have to go to City Pets Saturday to meet Jim, I'll try to talk to Donnie some more about this while I'm there.

Nick and I talked to Donie yeasterday and he said the same thing to us. That he and his brother are down for becoming sponsors and that they have not problem with the donations but his parents were not too keen on the discount. He said that some one was supose to talk to his brother (David) but no one ever did. David is almost all ways there during the day (I stop there at lunch alot as it is close to work). I think some one should try and talk to Dave and keep the ball rolling. It would be great to get more sponsor stores in the club

I was up in conroe last week, they have a new store called FISHRUShouston (http://www.fishrushouston.com/) its about 1 mile east off 45 on hwy242 something like that.
As of last week, they had many cichild tanks setup in front and their Sw section in the back had lots of curing liverock, and very large holding tanks w/ nothin in them, just cloudy water. according to their website its primarily a cichild store
