i pick up a hammer coral about 21/2 weeks back, it looked great when i put it in. this past week end i changed my lighting to 2 95w vho's from a 96w pc and a 30 actinic, and it has now really came out. it just comes out alittle you can tell its a hammer but its just out alittle. could this be from the new lighting? all my other corals have come out better and bigger, could it just be adjusting to the change of light since its new and this would be the umpthenth till its had to change light in the past month?

as long as its not dying, i'd just wait.
Probably still adjusting to the lighting change.

My hammer hates bright light. I have to shield it under a ledge from my metal halides. So yeah, it's probably the lighting change - just give it time to adjust. If you don't want to shock it so much, get some window screen and cut out about 10 pieces big enough to shade the hammer, then remove 1 piece each day to gradually acclimate it to more light.

Yea i agree, they dont need extreme lighting but when they finally adjust they'll look even better :)

To add to what mikester said, you can also use dirty glass canopy parts to shade, also. You prob want to do something like this - prolonged irritation may cause the hammer to bleach (definitely not good). Most of the Euphyllias I've dealt with seem to be sensitive to lighting changes. I can't tell you how many hammers and torches I've seen, literally, melting under dealers metal halides. Not real smart, considering the animal has probably been light starved for the past couple of weeks while in transit.
