I brought back from PR some very nice Seaweed from the beach and I wonder if putting it in my fuge will harm anything?
I got several kinds and they are all gorgeous. There is this flat green paper like seaweed that is stuck to some rocks from the beach, these beaded like, some nice red seaweed, and other variations. I wonder if they do the same job as the culerpa. I know they host tons of pods from the beach. As I took the weeds from be beach, they where infested with pods. :)

I also managed to get some sand (about 10 lbs) from the coast and it is full of life. Along with some small clams and snails. :D
Maybe Ill take some pictures later of the plants I brought back.
I just wondered if anyone here used seaweed in their tanks.
Thanks

I would worry too much about parasites, diseases and harmful organisms to put it into my tank/fuge. Larval critters can get from the fuge to the show tank without a problem, and larval critters can become big, mean, nasty, viscious, fish eating Mantis Shrimps or the like.

I guess I wont be adding any fish anytime soon. :Q
This seaweed came from a clear beach, so I hope nothing too parasitic will come out of it. Then again I got TBS rock, and weird things come out of it, I figured a bit of puertorrican seaweed and sand wont hurt anyone. :p
I'll keep y'all updated.
I also mailed myself 45 lbs of coral rocks for my fuge. I will be cleaning those soon and placing them into my fuge and tank. They are so porous its too beautiful. :D
