First it was the DSB
Good for some but the DSB has it's faults. Dr. Ron will not admit those faults and his answer to people with problems is always add more detrivoire kits.

Then it was the Toxic Metals and the Crystal Seas Salt
Dr. Ron told everyone it was a good idea to change salts and some of the best SPS tanks in the nation started bleaching.

Now this:

It is possible that some of the so-called live rock available for the aquarium hobby can provide significant biological filtration; however, that rock has to be carefully chosen for its array of animal life present. Rock without animals in it will not be effective at being a filtration medium as there is no way for the interior porosity and presumptive bacterial beds to be functional without a way of moving water through the rock, and the only way that movement may be accomplished is by animal action.

I find his statements like this completely incorrect. Can Dr. Ron explain how I can take 50lbs dead LR devoid of all life put it in saltwater with 3lbs of Live Rock with no noticable animal life and after 2 months use it as the only biological filtration for my heavily fed clown broodstock set up?

When I first switched over to the Crystal Seas stuff there was some bleaching but the corals regained their colors and it was only the solf corals that bleached, like my mushrooms and clove polyps. I'll tell you want though, it got my bangaii's breeding again after a few water changes. Tom, I was going to to bring that clown for you but I think I'll wait til I get my new pair so my lonely male can protect the LTA's from the other fish just to be on the safe side.

I don't think he is crazy. I have been using those Crystal Sea salt and they are very good. My corals doing very well. The salt just need some minor adjustment before use. I think some people just over react with the salt. All my system is running DSB and I think they are great. I think those have trouble is the one who did not use skimmer for the tank. The only thing I don't like about the DSB is that limit me from putting more water circulation for my tank because it might blow the sand around.
